Topic: Peoples Roundtable; Election Concerns & Expectations of common people
We included people from various groups of society who have something to talk about the democratic process in Pakistan. They talked to us about their aspirations, expectations & concerns about the political system and role of politicians in Pakistan. They highlighted their problems and express their thoughts to resolve them.
The basic concern was energy crisis that resulted in the high prices in almost every sphere of daily life. The people talked about terrorism and lawlessness in most parts of the country. But at the same time they expressed hope that democratic process would help to run the system in a better way. The analysts talked about the awareness people got during the five years of a democratically elected government. They expressed the hope that now people will use their right of vote with a sense of responsibility and try to choose the people from them who would understand their problems in a better way. The callers & participants talked about Change and said this time youth is going to bring a change with the right frame of mind. The participants praised the role of army who didn’t interfere and let the democratic process continue. They expressed the hope that new government would try to ease out problems for the common man and restore law and order so the country would see a peaceful environment.
